Lawrence green
Lawrence Green is the Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement. In this capacity he oversees all aspects of fundraising, friendraising, alumni relations and marketing & public relations. Mr. Green simultaneously continues in his role as Director for Sponsored Programs at Cheyney University. In this capacity, he is responsible for coordinating and managing government grants as well as corporate and foundation relations. Mr. Green joined Cheyney University in November 2004.
Mr. Green has been a development professional for approximately 30 years both on the West Coast and in Philadelphia. He has raised funds for disease-related organizations, a child welfare residential facility and multigenerational community centers. His experience includes major giving and planned gifts, grantsmanship, capital campaigns, special events, corporate sponsorships, annual giving, direct mail, marketing and public relations.
Mr. Green currently serves as a member of the PASSHE Faculty Professional Development Council and of the Pennsylvania/New Jersey/Delaware Regional Corporate & Foundation Relations Roundtable. He has taught grant writing and grant administration to faculty, staff and students and has been a presenter for the Corporate and Foundation Relations track at the PASSHE biennial Institutional Advancement Conference. In 2008, he was awarded a plaque of appreciation by CU President Dr. Michelle R. Howard-Vital in recognition of securing $1 million in grants funds in that year.
Mr. Green has been actively involved as a development conference organizer and presenter throughout his career. He has been a speaker for United Way and Community Health Charities workplace campaigns. Mr. Green served as a grant reviewer panelist for the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
He is a former leader of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Philadelphia Chapter, having served as a Board member, National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon Chair, Program Committee member, Planned Giving Day Committee member and mentor. Larry Green received his B.A. in Speech Communications from Case Western Reserve University and his M.S. in Television-Radio from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Syracuse University.
