Alumni Spotlight Award Criteria

Cheyney University is an institution that has excelled in educating and preparing our alumni for success. We are proud of the fact that many of our alumni have been publicly recognized throughout the Commonwealth and the nation for their outstanding accomplishments. Moreover, senior leadership at the University want to publicize these successes by recognizing the extraordinary professional contributions and quality service of our alumni and their integral role in advancing the legacy of Cheyney University.

The Awards Process

It is intended that one alumnus/alumnae will be recognized each month during the Fall and Spring semesters. Recipients will receive an award of recognition; as well as PR acknowledgment by way of the University’s monthly newsletter and website. The photograph and biography of the recipient will be on display in Biddle Hall. The candidate will receive recognition at and two passes for the annual VIP President’s Reception as part of the University’s commencement activities.

Candidate selection will be campus community based process and rely on the recommendations of the National Alumni Association. The Office of the President will administer the program, and all recommendations shall be directed to the Director of Alumni Relations and submitted by the last Monday of each month. Awards will be announced the following month in conjunction with the release of the monthly newsletter.

Criteria

This award is given to alumni who have reached the pinnacle of their career and have brought credit to themselves and Cheyney University through distinguished accomplishments in ALL of the following areas:

  • Business or professional life.
  • Exceptional service in local, state or national affairs.
  • Exceptional service in support of the advancement of Cheyney University.
