Anne Frazier, a Political Science major and Valedictorian of the Cheyney University Class of 2013, spoke at the Commencement program on May 18, 2013.
Ms. Frazier was active as a Cheyney University student, serving as Junior Class President and Residence Advisor, among other things. During elections she helped students register to vote and organized education conferences on campus and rallies to support State funding for the Keystone Honors Academy and the State School System. Her remarks from the podium expressed her allegiance to Cheyney University. "If I leave you with nothing else today, remember that we are Cheyney University and as such, it is our duty to be zealous alumni who are not only financially supportive but also actively engaged in our Alma Mater in every way."
Anne is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, which is the only honor society for college and university students of government in the United States. Anne has been the recipient of Dean’s List recognition each term throughout her tenure at Cheyney University. She was recently the recipient of the Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities Award. For two years, Anne served as the President of the Cheyney University chapter of the NAACP and she was involved in organizing two regional NAACP conferences on education.
Anne, a Philadelphia native, is currently employed with CIGNA, serving as a home delivery service representative. In the spring, she plans to return to school for a masters degree in public health and, eventually, a doctorate in Sociology.
