A 29-person delegation from Cheyney University’s Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism Management (HRTM) Program is just back from the 28th Annual National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH) Conference & Career Fair, held in Florida. Many walked away with paying jobs and internships with organizations from across the country.

Tache Johnson, a junior at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, is one of 35 students from around the country to be selected as a Apple HBCU Scholar for one of the top technology companies in the world. The Keystone Honors Academy Scholar will spend three months this summer interning for the tech giant at its CA headquarters, earning $20,000 and a chance of a lifetime.

Cheyney University of Pennsylvania will celebrate 180 years of service to tens of thousands of students at its annual Founder's Day Convocation on Wednesday, March 1 at 12:30 pm in Marian Anderson Music Center’s Auditorium on the historic campus. Cheyney University's Honda Campus All-Star Challenge (HCASC) Varsity team will compete in the national championship in California this April. Their performance in the regional competition earlier this month and votes from the outside public guaranteed their spot among "The Great 48" teams from around the country. Two years ago, Cheyney's team came in 2nd in the nation in the National HCASC Championship, earning a $25,000 grant.

C-SPAN’s award-winning, 45-foot interactive customized bus visited Cheyney University on Mon., Feb. 13th, as part of C-SPAN’s 2017 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) tour. Cheyney, the nation's 1st HBCU, was the very first stop on the tour. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and the outside public were welcome to step on board for free to record video, search through hundreds of thousands of hours of political video, and discover how much fun learning can be, thanks to technology.

Mamadou Dia, a Cheyney University of Pennsylvania eystone Honors Academy Scholar, is working in the state House Democratic Research Office as part of a 15-week internship sponsored by Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. The junior criminal justice major is one of 11 students taking advantage of the opportunity in Harrisburg, PA at the state capitol.

Cheyney University sophomore Meghan Sowersby, a Keystone Honors Academy Scholar, has been awarded a prestigious Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship. She and nine other students from around the nation beat out many students from all over the country to be the first-ever Frederick Douglass Fellows. As such, they will take part in a summer study abroad program designed to enhance their leadership and intercultural skills in London, England.
