John Stuart arrived at Cheyney University after spending two seasons as the defensive back coach Bishop McDevitt High School (Wyncote, PA), his alma mater. Stuart helped mentor the young secondary into a solid unit. Under his tutelage, four members of the secondary received All-Catholic honors.
Stuart graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Physical Education. He was a four year letterman and a three year starter as a defensive back. He played in the 1993 Division II national championship game and holds the IUP record for the longest interception return for a touchdown (91 yards). While at IUP, Stuart also competed in track and field. He competed in the 1997 Division II national outdoor track and field championships in the 110H and 400IH.
From 2002-04 football seasons, Stuart was a member of the Albany Conquest of the Arena 2 Football League. He is also a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. Stuart is a native of and still resides in Philadelphia.
