2016 Wade Wilson Golf Tournament and Paint & Sip Events Support Student Scholarships

On Monday, August 22, 2016 the Cheyney University C Club held its seventh annual Wade Wilson Golf Tournament and silent auction at the Penn Oaks Golf Club to raise money for Cheyney University student-athletes, band members and cheerleaders. A Paint and Sip event at Pinot’s Palette in nearby Chadds Ford, PA also raised scholarship funds. All events raised over $60,000.

Wade Wilson Golf Tournament Update: July 31, 2015 - Due to unforseen circumstances at Penn Oaks Course, the Cheyney C Club will relocate the August 17 annual Wade Wilson Golf Tournament to Edgmont Country Club. Located at 5180 West Chester Pike, Edgmont, PA 19028, is a 10 minute drive from Cheyney University on PA Route 3. The change will only affect golfers and foursomes who should register at 7:30 am at Edgmont Country Club for the Tournament. All non-golfer activities are at Penn Oaks CC.

CU's Soulful Sound Band To Compete in Big Apple Classic

On Sunday, December 15th, Cheyney University's Soulful Sound Band will be at the Big Apple Classic at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Events there include a college fair featuring over 20 HBCUs, a dynamic step show performance, a drum-line competition and highly-anticipated halftime show plus the basketball games.

Cheyney University's Soulful Sound Marching Band hopes voters will put them on the map in the 2013-2014 Honda Battle of the Bands going on now through October 9, 2013. Everyone can vote once a day for their favorite band. The top eight vote-getters get to travel to Atlanta, GA and perform in the Invitational Showcase in January at the Georgia Dome.

The Black Violin concert in Marian Anderson Music Center on September 18 evening nearly filled the Marian Anderson Music Center. Just as notable, however, was the clinic conducted by Black Violin violist Wil B and violinist Kev Marcus earlier in the afternoon in the Cheyney University band room.

The Cheyney University Concert Choir & Cheyney University Soulful Marching Band participated in Jackie Robinson Night at the Philadelphia Phillies' Pre-Game Ceremonies on Friday, April 15, at Citizens Bank Ball Park. The choir, directed by Marques Garrett, sang the National Anthem, and the Band performed under the direction of Professor Allen Gardner.

The Cheyney University Soulful Sound Band will be leading the Annual African American Day Parade on Sunday, September 19, 2010 for the second year. The African American Parade begins at 1:00 pm in Harlem, NY on 111th Street & Adam Clayton Powell Blvd and ends at 142nd Street.
