The Black Violin concert in Marian Anderson Music Center on September 18 evening nearly filled the Marian Anderson Music Center. Just as notable, however, was the clinic conducted by Black Violin violist Wil B and violinist Kev Marcus earlier in the afternoon in the Cheyney University band room.

The Shirley Scott Scholarship, named in honor of former jazz organist and Cheyney University teacher, Shirley Scott, has recently been designated to assist students participating in the study of music.

The Cheyney University Concert Choir & Cheyney University Soulful Marching Band participated in Jackie Robinson Night at the Philadelphia Phillies' Pre-Game Ceremonies on Friday, April 15, at Citizens Bank Ball Park.
The choir, directed by Marques Garrett, sang the National Anthem, and the Band performed under the direction of Professor Allen Gardner.

The Cheyney University Soulful Sound Band will be leading the Annual African American Day Parade on Sunday, September 19, 2010 for the second year. The African American Parade begins at 1:00 pm in Harlem, NY on
111th Street & Adam Clayton Powell Blvd and ends at 142nd Street.
