Lady Wolves Honor Five Seniors

Five Cheyney women's basketball players their final game in Cope Hall tonight.  Jewel Williams, Lakemia Smith, Ebonee Thompson, Latoya Showell and Fants Sissoko all started for the Wolves in a 67-62 loss to Columbia Union College before 123 faithful fans.  The five were recognized in a pre-game ceremony that featured remarks form University President Wallace Arnold.  It was the first time all season that rookie head coach Jada Pierce used the all senior line-up on the court at the same time.

Ranisha Childress tied the game at 54 with 5:34 remianing.  However, the Pioneers went on a 10-2 run over the the next fou minutes to take an 8-point 6 lead with a minute and a half remaining.  The Wolves were cut the lead to 3 points on a Sissoko lay-up with 22 seconds remaining.  Columbia Union was able to convert a couple of foul shots in the games' final seconds.   

Sissoko paced the Wolves with 12 points and 16 rebounds.  Childress and Showell netted 10 points apiece.  Cheyney will travel to Mansfield for their final game of the 2004-05 campaign.
