What to expect: Commencement is a solumn event which honors not just the graduating class, but the work of the entire community - students, faculty and staff - all of whose efforts culminate in this important event. The ceremony opens with a procession by the alumni of the class which graduated 50 years prior, the President, the University Trustees, the Faculty, the senior class, and others. During the ceremony, the University may confer honorary degrees to persons chosen for this distinction, leadership, originality, and ability to serve as role models. Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Masters of Education, Masers of Arts in Education, and Masters of Public Administraton degrees will be awarded to members of the graduating class.
No tickets are required. The front section is reserved for University alumni, special guests and the graduating class members.
Location: Tent on historic Quad on campus
Time: Participants and their guests are encouraged to arrive early to secue parking. Graduating students should check in at Dudley Theatre by 10 am and put on caps and gowns. Lineup begins a 10:30 at at Dudley Theatre, The ceremony begins at 11 am. The event is held rain or shine.
Seating for Commencement
We strongly recommend early arrival to ensure seating of groups consisting of three to four. Seating is based on a first come, first serve basis. Guests should arrive together to ensure they will be seated together. Handicap seating is available.
Parking for Commencement
Due to major campus construction projects, we strongly recommend early arrival to ensure desired parking. Parking is available in the Airport and Motorcycle lots. Campus shuttles will be available to transport guests with difficulty walking to the Quad.
Vehicles parked illegally will be towed. Please use designated parking areas.
