Main Line Chamber of Commerce's Gold Leaf Scholarship Application

 
Scholarship Background
 
The Main Line Chamber’s Annual Helena Devereux Women in Leadership Award is given out at the Gold Leaf Celebration to a Main Line female business leader in either a for-profit or non-profit organization operating in the Greater Main Line Region. Nominees have direct responsibility for the overall strength and viability of their business, proven accomplishments impacting the financial stability of her business, demonstrate exceptional leadership capabilities, have made significant contributions to the community and exhibit a strong commitment to improving the quality of the personal and professional lives of others.
 
This scholarship is intended for women who desire to become strong, community leaders and achieve many of the things aforementioned.
 
 
Eligibility Requirements
A student is eligible to be considered for Gold Leaf Scholarship if she:
·         Is a current Cheyney student who has overcome challenges while working towards her educational goals
·         Is a resident of Pennsylvania’s Chester, Delaware or Montgomery County and a U.S. Citizen
·         Has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.00 in her undergraduate work
·         Has demonstrated leadership qualities through participation in community service, extra curricular activities and work experience
·         Meets financial needs requirements, as established by the College’s Financial Aid Office
·         Has completed and submitted all the required documents (including application, resume, essay and  three (3) references)
·         Is not receiving tuition reimbursement by her employer (including school districts). Please submit proof of lack of reimbursements from HR department

2011 WyzAnt Scholarships Available...

2011 marks the second annual college scholarship contest, featuring $10,000 in total awards. This year, students are asked to write a short essay about the most important lesson they have learned.
 
 
Students will be able to solicit votes from friends and family to reach the finals and then WyzAnt's nationwide network of 40,000 tutors will vote for the winners.

The HBCU STEM Fellowship Program - Provides fellowships and stipends to graduates of Historically Black Colleges and Universities to pursue Master’s level programs in STEM areas of study at colleges and universities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware or Washington, DC. STEM Scholarships for Juniors and Seniors - Application Deadline is January 6, 2012!

Goldwater Scholarship for Juniors and Seniors pursuing careers in the STEM fields...

The Foundation will award undergraduate scholarships to outstanding students, in the spring of 2012 for use during the 2012–2013 academic year.

The awards will be made on the basis of merit to juniors and seniors who have outstanding potential and intend to pursue careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering.

To be considered, a student must be nominated by his or her college or university using the official online nomination process on the Foundation's website:

Each scholarship covers eligible expenses for undergraduate tuition, fees, books, and room and board, up to a maximum of $7,500 annually.

Bill Gates Announces 2012 Scholarship Program for Low-Income Minority Students...

Gates' non-profit organization is giving away 1,000 scholarships for the 2012 school season. Bill Gates' Millennium Scholarship Program (GMS) will select 1,000 talented students next year to receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice.
 
Scholars will also be provided with personal and professional development through their leadership programs, along with academic support throughout their college career.
 
The program, funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established to provide outstanding low income minority students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in any area of interest. To date, the program has given scholarships to more than 15,000 students.  
 
Continuing scholars may request funding for a graduate degree program in one of the following disciplines: education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science.

Vanguard Minority Scholarship Program - Application Deadline November 4, 2011!

Applicants must complete and return the application form to the Office of Institutional Advancement by November 4, 2011.  Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.  

The Vanguard Minority Scholarship Program provides merit-based scholarships of up to $10,000 to  minority students pursuing studies in business, finance, economics, or accounting.

The program's goal is to remove financial barriers for minority students who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential. Students must be pursuing studies in business, finance, economics, or accounting. Scholarship checks can be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.

Since introducing this program in 2004, Vanguard has awarded approximately $350,000 to deserving college students.

This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America. Scholarship Management Services is the nation's largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals.

Vanguard, headquartered in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, is one of the world's largest investment management companies and a leading provider of employer-sponsored retirement plans. The program's goal is to remove financial barriers for female students who demonstrate academic excellence and are pursuing studies in computer science, computer engineering, web design or other IT-related disciplines. Scholarship funds can be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.

Need-based Scholarships Available for Graduating Seniors - please apply asap!

This year, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund is offering a special Achieving College Completion by Ensuring Scholastic Success (ACCESS) scholarship that is only available to graduating seniors who demonstrate immediate financial need that cannot be met through other avenues.

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

* Expected graduation by December 2012
* Minimum 3.0 GPA
* Have an immediate financial need not exceeding $2,200

 

When applying, students must answer the following essay question- Why do you need this scholarship and how will it help you achieve your educational goals?

 

Required Scholarship Documents:

* Essay (Minimum 250 words)
* Unofficial Transcript
* Letter of Recommendation by university faculty or staff
* Student Aid Report (FAFSA)
* Scanned copy of TMCF's financial need verification form (attached)

A scanned copy of TMCF's financial need verification form must also be uploaded in the field for the 2nd Letter of Recommendation.
