Joshua David Gardner Memorial Scholarship Endowment Save Scholarship/Grant was established in June 2007 to provide scholarships to undergraduates attending historically black colleges and universities.
The Ralph W. Shrader Diversity Scholarship was developed to provide educational opportunities for talented individuals pursuing advanced degrees at the master's level and to acknowledge and honor the unique contributions of Dr. Ralph W. Shrader, the only AFCEA Chairman of the Board to be elected to two different two-year terms. Dr. Shrader championed increased opportunities for women and minorities in the communications and electronics fields.
VADM Samuel L. Gravely, Jr., USN (Ret.) Memorial Scholarship --- scholarships of $5,000 will be awarded to full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in an eligible major and currently enrolled in an accredited Historically Black College or University (HBCU) institution in the United States. Distance-learning or online programs affiliated with one of these institutions are eligible. Candidates must be at least second-year college students, enrolled full time as sophomores or juniors at the time of application.

NATIONAL BLACK MBA ASSOCIATION, INC. PHILADELPHIA CHAPTER MISSION:
The Philadelphia Chapter of the National Black MBA Association, Inc. focuses on its vision to be a leader in the creation of economic and intellectual wealth in our community. Through innovative programs, partnerships with key stakeholders, by increasing awareness and facilitating access, our mission is to positively impact the success of African-Americans in the business community.
NATIONAL BLACK MBA ASSOCIATION, INC. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
The purpose of The Philadelphia Chapter of the National Black MBA Association, Inc. scholarship is to offer financial assistance for tuition and other educational expenses to students enrolled in a business or management program. Scholarships are apportioned based on an applicant’s demonstrated academic achievement, community service, letter of reference(s), verbal skills and resume.
Scholarship recipients will be notified the second week in November and are required to attend our Scholarship and Awards Banquet on November 16th, 2011 at the Philadelphia Hilton
The application deadline is Monday, November 7, 2011. All application packages must be RECEIVED (not postmarked) by November 7, 2011 in order to be considered.
Students with a physical/home address located in the Philadelphia area (counties) qualify. Proof of address will be required with other supporting college/university enrollment documentation.
IMPORTANT NOTES
All awards given in 2011 are one-time lump-sum awards and are not renewable. Each winner in 2011 will need to reapply to the 2012 scholarship program for consideration.

SELECTION PROCESS
• Review of Application packages by Student Affairs Committee/Executive Committee.
• In-Person or Telephone Interviews with semi-finalist to evaluate verbal communication skills.
• Winners will be determined based upon weighting of all criteria (Essay, GPA, Resume, References, and Interview).
• Notify the winners and all other applicants of recipients by phone/letter/email.
• Winner requested to provide chapter with verification from school's registrar confirming full-time enrollment for fall/winter 2011.
• Funds will be disbursed directly to the college or university.
National Black MBA Association, Inc. Philadelphia Chapter Scholarship Requirements
Criteria for Graduate Scholarships:
Applicant must be an African-American student, currently enrolled in a Graduate program at an AACSB accredited (http://www.aacsb.edu/) college or university for the 2011-2012 school year located in Philadelphia* (and its surrounding counties). Online university enrollment will be considered if the program has its AACSB accreditation.
Applicant must submit a two-page, typed essay (double-spaced, 12-point font) based on one of the following:
1. The Philadelphia Chapter recently celebrated 35 years of service in the Philadelphia community, membership and with our corporate partners. Since no organization can thrive without great leadership, dedicated membership and corporate partnerships. In thinking about the next 35 years of the Philadelphia chapter, what ways could the organization stay "relevant" to all of its stakeholders (members, corporate partners, community, etc.). Please provide your insight into how the organization can remain sustainable
2. Receiving an advanced degree is a prestigious accomplishment; tell us why you decided to pursue an advanced degree and what completing that degree will mean to you.
3. Challenges often mold who we become tell us a life challenge that lead to one of your greatest accomplishments
• Applicant must submit an official college transcript or acceptance letter on official letter head with their application. The transcript must be stamped with the raised seal of the registrar if it is from a university or college.
• Applicant must submit two (2) letters of recommendation with their application package. Letters must be from professionals such as professors/teachers, managers and co-workers. Recommendation letters from relatives will not be accepted. References relationship to the applicant must be identified in the letter.
• Applicant must submit a resume (12-point font) detailing education, work experience (if applicable), accolades, achievements, extra-curricular activities and community involvement.
• Retain a copy of your application for your records
A completed application (essay, official transcript and all other materials) must be postmarked by November 7th 2011, the official deadline date and submitted to:

- Michelle and Geri Vital Scholarship Fund
Two $1,000 scholarships will be given annually while Dr. Michelle Howard- Vital is President of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania to students who demonstrate leadership potential, and are enrolled in a full-time, four-year undergraduate degree program at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. To be eligible, graduating high school students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), or, if college , a grade point average of 3.0 and a minimum SAT score of 900 to be eligible for the Michelle and Geri Vital Scholarship. The purpose of the award is intended to eliminate a gap in funding for expenses that students may have to pay out-of-pocket or borrow in order to attend Cheyney. That is, the scholarship should never result in a cash refund for the scholarship recipient. The Michelle and Geri Vital Scholarship is a onetime award. Apply using the CU General Scholarship Application, indicate “Vital Scholarship” on the form. Applications are due August 12, 2011. - Coleman Endowed Scholarship
Two $2,500 scholarships (per year per student) will be awarded competitively to one male and one female sophomore enrolled at Cheyney University who are Business Administration majors. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.0 to be considered, and the scholarships are awarded competitively to the highest performers. Awards are intended to decrease debt, and may reduce loans. No residency restrictions apply, international students may be considered. Students must be enrolled in full-time coursework, and make continuous progress toward their degree of study. The Fund shall be directed to direct costs, including tuition, fees, and books. The scholarship is renewable through the senior year, as long as the recipients maintain the required GPA (minimum GPA of a 3.0). Applications are due August 12, 2011. - Joyner Scholarship
Scholarships awarded competitively to the “best and brightest” deserving students who are enrolled in a full-time, four-year undergraduate degree program at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. The purpose of the award is intended to eliminate a gap in funding for expenses that students may have to pay out-of-pocket or borrow in order to attend Cheyney. That is, the scholarship may reduce loans, but should never result in a cash refund for the scholarship recipient. The scholarship is awarded competitively, and is a onetime award. Apply using the CU General Scholarship Application, indicate “Joyner Scholarship” on the form. Applications are due August 12, 2011. - Highmark Scholarship
This scholarship is limited to incoming freshmen at PASSHE universities pursuing a degree in a healthcare field, including, but not limited to: nursing, pre-physician assistant, pre-medicine, biology, health science, audiology, speech pathology, human services administration, health education, medical imagery and exercise science. The award is made competitively to the highest achieving students who meet the above criteria. The scholarship is a one-time award of $1,000. Apply using the CU General Scholarship Application, indicate “Highmark” on the form. Applications are due August 12, 2011. - Clarence Schock Foundation
Scholarships are awarded to first-time entering freshmen at Cheyney University who enroll full-time. Applicants must be a legal resident of one of the following Pennsylvania counties. Adams, Berks, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Lancaster, Labanon or York, and must be a graduate of a secondary school in one of these same counties. Awards will be made competitively to high achieving students who meet the above criteria. Awards are made at $1,200 per student per year, and are renewable through the senior year, contingent upon strong academic performance (minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA). Please complete the CU General Scholarship Application, indicate “Schock” on the form; additionally, please attach a completed Schock application. Applications are due August 12, 2011. - Dolores Elizabeth Howard Memorial Scholarship
Two $500 scholarships will be given to non-traditional students who demonstrate leadership potential, are enrolled at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, and are making continuous progress toward their degree of study. The award shall be used to cover books and fees only. The Dolores Elizabeth Howard Memorial Scholarship is a one-time award. Apply using the CU General Scholarship Application, indicate Howard Memorial Scholarship on the form. Application deadline is Friday, August 12, 2011. - Independence Foundation Scholarship
One $5,000 scholarship will be given to disadvantaged student with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. The scholarship is awarded competitively, and is a one-time award. Apply using the CU General Scholarship Application, indicate Independence Foundation on the form. Application deadline is Friday, August 12, 2011. - Charles A. Highsmith, Sr. Education Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarship will be given to a student majoring in education, who plans to teach in urban schools. Applicants must have a minimum of a cumulative GPA of 2.7 to be considered and reside in Philadelphia, PA. Student must be enrolled in full-time coursework, and make continuous progress toward his/her degree of study. The award shall be directed towards the student’s attendance costs – tuition, room, board, books and fees. Apply using the CU General Scholarship Application, indicate Highsmith, Sr. Scholarship on the form. Application deadline is Friday, August 12, 2011.
