  • HBCU STEM Fellowship Program - The Historically Black College or University (HBCU) Fellowship Program is offered to students who have graduated from a HBCU on or after January 1, 2008 and gain admission into Masters’ level programs in STEM areas of study at colleges and universities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware or Washington, DC .
    STEM refers to the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics but does not include majors linked to direct patient care. In addition to financial support the program provides retention-related supportive services to nurture the next generation of scientists, researchers and engineers.
    Applicants accepted into the program may receive up to $77,000 for tuition, fees, academic and living expenses for two years. In addition there is no residency requirements except the applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. This Fellowship Program is administered by the Educational Advancement Alliance (EAA) and sponsored by the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), a U.S. Department of Energy agency.

  • James Hughes Memorial Scholarship Fund
    This scholarship has been founded by friends and family to honor the memory of the late James
    Hughes of Philadelphia, a beloved and respected leader of his community and a founding member
    of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) Board of Governors.
    The purpose of this program is to provide recognition and financial assistance to low-income,
    disadvantaged students residing in the city of Philadelphia, who attend any of the public high
    schools or charter schools in the School District of Philadelphia and who wish to enroll in
    universities of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. The students chosen for the
    scholarship should have demonstrated their ability and desire to achieve academically despite
    adversities and should have need for funds to meet their necessary college expenses. The awards
    are “last-dollar” scholarships and not to replace other scholarships or grants.

    The McGraw-Hill Companies sponsored Black History Month Essay Contest is open to all undergraduate students who are a member of HBCUConnect.com, and are interested in potential internship opportunities with McGraw-Hill. The winner will be notified by April 1st, 2010 and will receive a $1,000 scholarship for use toward tuition or college related expenses.

  • Black Employee Network (BEN) Scholarship Program
    The mission of the Union Pacific Railroad Black Employee Network (BEN) is to recruit, retain and advance the careers of African-American employees within Union Pacific by promoting and facilitating both personal and professional growth, and by working with Union Pacific Senior Leadership toward an awareness of diversity issues.
    The Union Pacific Railroad Black Employee Network Jerry Morris and Summer Houston Memorial Scholarship is a $500 or $1000 award to assist African American Students in defraying the cost of higher education. Recipients are chosen on the basis of scholastic ability and leadership. Personal or family financial situations can be a factor in consideration of eligibility and in awarding the scholarship.   • Most Promising Minority Students Scholarship sponsored by The Home Depot
    With the support of The Home Depot, the American Advertising Federation's Mosaic Center on Multiculturalism will award fourteen (14) $5,000 scholarships to deserving minority students majoring in advertising, marketing or communications. As college sophomores and juniors, these students should exhibit the potential to become one of AAF's Most Promising Minority Students by their senior year.

  • Coast Guard Announces HBCU Student Scholarship
    Imagine having your college junior and senior years fully funded. Now imagine getting a salary while you complete your college degree.
    That's what the College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative (CSPI) program offers college sophomores and juniors.
    CSPI provides students with valuable leadership, management, law enforcement, navigation and marine science skills and training. It also provides full payment of school tuition, fees, textbooks, salary, medical insurance, and other benefits during a student's junior and senior year of college. The CSPI program's goal is to train future officers for success and prepare them for the rigors of Officer Candidate School (OCS).
    Each student is expected to complete his/her degree and all Coast Guard training requirements within 24 months after acceptance into the program. Following successful completion of OCS, the students will be commissioned as Coast Guard officers, committed to 3 years of active duty service.
