Saturday October 20 brought bright skies and big crowds to Cheyney University's campus for a huge homecoming celebration of the 175th anniversary of its founding. While week-long festivities brought many back to their alma mater, the University's traditional parade and football game are always the big draw.

Cheyney University hosted the annual Life Members Luncheon on Friday October 19. Representatives from the Atlanta Metro region, Ohio and North and South Carolina, as well as the Philadelphia area, filled Carnegie Hall. Aside from serving as an annual gathering of loyal alumni, the occasion serves as a way for the University to acknowledge its appreciation to the dedicated alumni who are so generous in supporting students and programs at Cheyney University.

Cheyney University National Alumni Association honored a pledge it made some three years ago by presenting a check for $1,000,000 to Cheyney University at a star-studded 175th Anniversary Gala Thursday evening, October 18, 2012 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

On the eve of Cheyney University's 175th Homecoming Weekend, a debut fashion show is planned for Friday, October 19 at Cope Hall. Starring "Originale" garments by the fashion club L'Originale and special guest designers, live performers, and a special tribute to Breast Cancer Awareness, the evening has been organized by Jamal Morrison.

CU grad, Cedric Perry, Cheyney University author and the creator of two web shows, “Pick 6” and “We’re Just Talking,” came back to campus to film a live taping of "Pick 6," a show he created in 2009 for a college-audience. “Since this is the 175th anniversary of Cheyney, I decided that the theme for this show will be “Reasons We Love HBCUs, ” explained the budding television producer.
