Telecommunications officer - Dispatcher

Cheyney University is seeking to hire Part-Time Telecommunications Officers - Dispatchers in the Office of Public Safety. Employees in the Security Officer 1 classification are members of the SPFPA bargaining unit. PT Dispatchers will work up to 16 hours per week on Saturday and Sundays.  Employees in this position are NOT eligible for university benefits.

Employees will provide dispatch services to the Public Safety department in the protection of Cheyney University property, grounds, facilities, clientele, students, employees and the general public. Dispatchers are supervised by the shift Police Supervisor. This position is considered to be essential and shifts vary within a 24-hr schedule.

Duties include receiving information via telephone, radio, mobile data computer, fire and access system and disseminating that information to the appropriate Public Safety officer, University department or outside agency; Monitoring those held in the holding area for processing; Operating the CLEAN/SCOPE terminal; running all CLEAN transactions /SCOPE transactions for Patrol Officers and Administrators, and properly documenting those CLEAN/SCOPE transactions; Dispatching maintenance units; Documenting both emergency and non-emergency incidents in the Police Visual Alert System. (ALERT); displaying proficiency monitoring closed circuit camera system; Monitoring and directing radio traffic of Police, Security, Maintenance, and EMS units; additional duties as assigned.

Education, Training, and/or Experience
GED or High School Diploma required. Experience in the security or law enforcement field preferred.
