The Liberal Studies program is an exciting and academically challenging inter-disciplinary program that provides students with the oppotunity to study and integrate concepts from the Humanities, Natural and Social Sciences, and Professional Studies. The learning outcomes of the Liberal Studies program center around two primary goals: first, completion of advanced coursework in the three basic university skills of writing, speaking and critical reasoning; second, completion of coursework in an area of study that best fits the student's academic and professional goals.
By taking the core required courses of the Liberal Studies program, students come to understand that their past experiences and future goals are the foundation for their place in the world. Included in this awareness of one's place in the world is the role we each play in the lives of others. Reflective self-identification and recognition of social responsibilities is the essential outcome of a degree in Liberal Studies. Liberal Studies majors will engage the disciplines of a classic liberal arts education as well as be encouraged to take internships. This unique interdisciplinary program along with the possibility of an internship gives students both the theoretical foundation and practical application for pusuing their desired professional goals.
The Department of Fine Arts, Design and Liberal Studies offers bachelors degree programs in Fine Arts, with concentrations in Art, Music ,Theatre, Graphic Design, and Liberal Studies. The Department also offers a minor in Art.
