Welcome to the Office of Sponsored Programs!

The Office of Sponsored Programs coordinates corporate, foundation and government relations for Cheyney University. Developing high-quality and high-impact relationships with businesses and corporations, foundations, government agencies and elected officials are critical to ensuring Cheyney’s future as a premier HBCU.

Sponsored Programs cultivates and stewards a variety of relationships including:

  • Government grants and contracts
  • Advocacy
  • Foundation grants
  • Corporate grants
  • Corporate sponsorships
  • Student internships
  • Employee Mentoring Opportunities
  • On-Campus Job Fair Opportunities
  • Guest Speaker Opportunities for industry, government and foundation leaders

The Office of Sponsored Programs provides training and technical support to faculty and staff in grant writing, reporting, administration and stewardship. The office researches funding opportunities and then works with the appropriate members of the Cheyney community to pursue those opportunities.

The Office of Sponsored Programs seeks funding to support areas of importance as identified in the University’s Strategic Plan: student development and academic achievement, enhancement of curriculum as relates to Centers of Excellence, infrastructure and historic preservation.

Reasons to Support Cheyney University:

  • Cheyney has a unique legacy as America’s Oldest Historically Black Institution of Higher Education and as the only HBCU among the 14 universities that comprise the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.
  • Cheyney is the antidote to the “brain drain” that negatively impacts our region. Over 85% of Cheyney’ students are from Pennsylvania, with the majority of this group being from the Greater Philadelphia region. Cheyney students live in our area, they go to school here and they remain here. An investment in Cheyney is an investment in your future workforce.
  • Cheyney’s historic commitment to access and affordable tuition enable many to come to Cheyney who otherwise would not pursue a post-secondary education. To this day, many Cheyney students are the first member of their family to attend college. Supporting Cheyney represents community reinvestment and workforce development.
