Accelerated Summer Courses Offered to Non-Cheyney Students Online & on Campus

College students can make the most of their summer time, boost their GPA and build up some credits for required courses through Cheyney University’s “CU in the Summer” offerings. In addition, non-Cheyney students can also take the five-week-long classes whether they are pursuing a degree at another university or just looking to take a course that interests them.

Cheyney University of Pennsylvania was packed May 9 as family and friends gathered to watch the Class of 2015 walk across the stage to receive their long-awaited diplomas. The sweeping white tent on the historic quadrangle of the Nation’s 1st HBCU overflowed with well-wishers. As the University Band played Pomp and Circumstance, nearly 250 graduates processed behind Cheyney Administrators, Faculty, and Class of 1965 members who were on hand to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Torch Night Becomes New Tradition at Cheyney University

Torch Night, a new tradition at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, took place on the historic quad at the Nation's 1st HBCU on May 7. Graduating seniors lit the candles of underclassman in a special ceremony that signified passing the torch of leadership to the underclassmen.

Carr took the audience on a remarkable journey filled with humor, and sentimentality, revealing little known details about the life of Nat King Cole while singing some of his greatest hits such as "When I Fall In Love", "Straighten Up and Fly Right," "Smile," and "Unforgettable".

Cheyney University Senior Travonya Kenly today received the prestigious Ali-Zaidi Award, the highest level of academic achievement within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) universities. She is the 15th recipient and the first Cheyney student to win the illustrious award. Every spring, each of the 14 PASSHE schools nominates a student for the Ali-Zaidi Award but only one gets the highest honor. $1000 and the Ali-Zaidi medallion, and congratulatory citations from lawmakers
