The Cheyney University National Alumni Association hosted the annual Life Members Luncheon on Friday October 18 at Carnegie Hall. Cheyney University National Alumni Association's Maxine S. Coleman, Class of 1965, was Mistress of Ceremonies. Fourteen honorees were recognized.

Cheyney University’s fourth annual Entrepreneurial Business Plan Awards event is planned for 5 pm on Wednesday, April 24. Author of the book "From the Courtroom to the Kitchen” and host of the TV show “Sugar Rush,” Warren Brown, will give the keynote address at 6 PM in Marian Anderson Music Center.

Alice Wootsen, the award-winning author of 11 romance novels, is bringing her work and her love for reading back to her alma mater on Wednesday, April 10 in Carnegie Hall Great Room at 2 pm for an old-fashioned tea party.

The Cheyney University Student Government Association (SGCA) has organized a "Get on the Bus" program for Feb. 21 to spark a serious discussion of action that can have an impact. The dialog will take place among Cheyney University students about issues which continue to linger in America. It is expected that best practices will be learned and a solid network for ongoing support will be established.

Cheyney University of Pennsylvania’s oldest living alumnus died Monday, November 5th of a stroke. Dr. James R. Dumpson, PhD., a 1932 CU graduate, was 103 years old.
“He was the oldest of my grandparents’ six children and the family looked up to him as the child who went to college, graduated, and accomplished so much in his life,” said nephew Jeff Hart, who graduated from Cheyney 50 years after his uncle.

The 2012-2013 Schedule for the Arts and Lecture Series at Cheyney University features ten programs with a variety of speakers, musicians, singers and dancers from many continents and disciplines. All programs are held on the Cheyney University Campus and are open to the public.

On Friday June 8, Christopher John Logan of Medford, NJ, donated an assortment of documents which had belonged to his late uncle Harry Boyer to Cheyney University’s archives. Dr. Lut Nero, dean of Cheyney University’s L. P. Hill Library, University Archivist, Keith Bingham and Interim Director of Institutional Advancement Larry Green, were on hand to receive the box of diplomas and personal papers.

The PIFA events (April 7 - May 1, 2011)are being held in collaboration with the Kimmel Center (Philadelphia) as part of the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA). The events offered for PIFA are inclusive of Music, Theatre, Art, Graphics Communication Arts, English and Foreign Language.

Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) conducted an African American Heritage Month program for its military and civilian personnel on Feb. 15 in Mechanicsburg, Penn.
Highlighting the event was guest speaker Professor F. Keith Bingham, university archivist at Cheyney University, Penn., and the Cheyney University Choir, directed by Marques L.A. Garrett. Cheyney University, founded in 1837, is the oldest African-American school of higher education in the United States.
