The men’s basketball team put on a clinic for the Devereux Foundation Kanner Campus last month. Members of the Cheyney Basketball team and coaching staff reviewed basketball skills and talk with children and adolescents with special needs.

A memorial service for Alonzo Lewis will be held Saturday, March 3 at Chester High School gymnasium at 1:00 p.m. Lewis coached at Cheyney for four seasons. Prior to gracing the Cheyney sidelines he spent 20 seasons as a high school coach, 10 at Chester, seven at Darby Township and three at Academy Park. He closed out his scholastic career with the fourth-most wins (433) in Delaware County history.

Deshawn Curtis scored 12 first half points and team mate Jason Sabb added 10 to lead the Wolves to a 39-33 halftime advantage. However the Warriors held true to their name and battled back to out-score the Wolves in the second half 44-27, en route to a 77-66 victory.

Deshawn Curtis posted a double double in the first half to lead Cheyney to a 69-59 victory over Shippensburg in the final home contest of the season. Curtis ended the game with 16 points and 16 rebounds.

Jason Sabb scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his first career double double but it wasn’t enough as Cheyney fell to the University of the Sciences 78-68. It was the fourth time this season that Sabb tallied more than 30 points. Sabb was also an impressive 13-13 from the foul line.

A quartet of players tallied double figures for Cheyney as the Wolves were led by Jason Sabb and Brandon Baylor. The pair scored 28 and 26 points respectively. Jerrod Johnson and Anthony Juene added 18 and 17 points apiece for Cheyney.

A quartet of player tallied double figures for the Wolves as leading scorer Jason Sabb netted 29 for Cheyney. Team mates Deshawn Curtis added 14 while Anthony June and Jerrod Johnson chipped in 13 and 10 respectively.

Brandon Baylor and Jason Sabb combined for 32 points, more than half of the Wolves points, but Cheyney fell 83-61 to Bloomsburg. Baylor netted 19 points shooting 3-7 from the field and an impressive 10-11 from the charity stripe. He was also credited with three steals and three assists on the afternoon. Sabb scored 11 of his 13 points from the foul line.

Jerrod Johnson has been named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Freshman of the Week for the week ending December 4. Johnson averaged 20 points in two games as the Wolves defeated Lock Haven and fell to Edinboro.
