I am writing this memo to remind you and to share with you some information about our 2011 Commencement Ceremony that takes place this Saturday, May 7, 2011, beginning at 11:00 a.m. on the University Quadrangle. Please plan to arrive in Vaux-Logan Auditorium, your robing location, before 10:00 a.m. as the procession starts promptly at 10:45 a.m. This year, we will be lead by Dr. James Saxon as the grand marshal, Dr. Lynn Green and Professor Jann Ellis-Scruggs as the faculty marshals, Dr. Gedeon Mudacumura as the graduate marshal, and Dexter Armistead as the professional staff marshal.
Dr. Wesley Pugh will read the names of graduate degree candidates; Dr. Tara Kent, the undergraduate candidates with honors; Dr. Bernadette Carter, candidates from the School of Arts and Sciences; and Dr. Larnell Flannagan, candidates from the School of Education and Professional Studies.
For the administrators and platform guests, robing will take place in Biddle Hall. Our commencement speaker for this year is Mr. Hill Harper, award winning actor, bestselling author and philanthropist. Additionally, we will honor Hermione Clark-Hill Logan & Father Thomas Wilson Starly Logan, Sr.; Marsha Reed, CU ’98 and Vice President –Governance Administration and Assistant Secretary of the Walt Disney Company; and Hill Harper as our recipients of Honorary Doctorate Degrees.
I am sure you will find this to be a most exciting and fulfilling event for you, our alumni, family, friends; and most of all, our students. I look forward to seeing each of you at the commencement.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and thank you for all that you do each day to sustain and extend the proud legacy of Cheyney University.
