The Cheyney University Concert Choir gave University students, faculty and guests a beautiful holiday gift on Tuesday night.

The Winter Choral Concert opened with Conductor Marques L.A. Garrett directing what seemed to be  an invisible choir singing Hear My Prayer on an empty stage.   As the choir emerged from the wings, the music continued to fill the Marian Anderson Theatre.

Soloists included tenor Douglas Carson in Ave Maria, Janina Jones, soprano in Great Day, and Shaniqua Love, mezzo soprano with I Want Jesus To Walk With Me, and O Holy Night performed by pianist Toni Caldwell-Hall. Orator, Deanna Derry gave beautiful readings from Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol and Winter-Time by Robert Louis Stevenson.

The audience took their turn by joining in with Joy to the World, O Come All Ye Faithful, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing and Silent Night. Te Deum, a 3-part composition by Dan Forrest, was one of the most moving and dramatic pieces in the program, and countertenor Patrick Dailey's performance of Mary Had a Baby brought the audience to their feet.
