Head Football Coach Ken Lockard talks to a referee during the Blue and White Spring Game

On Saturday April 27, under a clear sky and a beautiful 78 degree day,  Head Football Coach Ken Lockard and his team took the field for their annual Blue & White Spring football game.

It was a back and forth battle between the offense and defense, resulting in a victory for the offense with a score of 30-27. The early goings of the game saw several errors by the offense: overthrown receivers, fumbles, and botched snaps.  At halftime the defense led 15-3.

The second half of action saw the offense come out of the locker room and score touchdowns with a run-in by Marcus Jones and a long catch by Khalif Dandy (9 catches, 84 yards, 2TDs). The defense responded with big plays from Shadeed Cheeseboro (4 solo sacks, 2 team sacks, 6 tackles for losses) and the rest of the defense as they almost completed the comeback but, ultimately, fell short.

Coach Lockard said the spring game accurately reflected their practices, “There were some practices where the offense ran the show and there were some where the defense would run it.” The game was a great showcase to the students, families, friends and recruits as the Wolves put on a display as to what to expect in the fall.

The Wolves open up the season with the Battle of the First against Lincoln University (PA) September 7, 2013 at 1 pm.
