Bowlers Looking For More Success
October 25, 2011
The 2011-12 collegiate bowling season began this past weekend with the Lady Wolves participating in the Kutztown duals in Reading.
Coach Blakeney is excited to start this year as he anticipates his best season yet with the addition of Taylor Billington (Hartford, CT) and Alean Rhodes (Chicago, IL) to the starting lineup. Coach "This year's team will be exciting to watch. They have a lot of potential and they are an excellent group of women,” stated fourth year coach Mike Blakeney.
Day one was a rough day for Cheyney University going 1-4 in baker matches. The Lady Wolves fell to Coppin State (637-597) and Howard (634-531) before beating Salem International 584-468. Later that afternoon the Lady Wolves fell to upstart Tulane (685-591) and Coppin (676-586).
On day two of the tournament the Lady Wolves rolled much better but again came away with a 1-4 mark. Cheyney rolled a series high 813, a new high for the program. "We have a lot to work on but our chemistry is good and the team is motivated to move forward. The lanes this weekend were extremely tough but it was good to experience that early in the year so we know what to work on to improve each week," stated Blakeney.
