Bowlers Roll Through Jeannette Lee Tournament

Jamie Archibald led Cheyney to its best finish ever in a tournament as the Lady Wolves compiled a 6-3 mark at the Jeannette Lee Classic hosted by St. Paul’s College.
Archibald, only a freshman, averaged 168 pins. Danielle Mines, Janae Silver and Destinee Bennett averaged 160, 146, and 141 pins respectively. Erica Williams and Manoucheca Julce rounded out the Cheyney squad.
In six traditional matches, Cheyney went 5-1. The Lady Wolves defeated St. Augustine (793-589), Shaw (700-565), Johnson C. Smith (705-665), Chowan (706-594), Winston Salem (678-659). The lone defeat was at the hands of the hosts; St. Paul’s 770-813.
In the baker matches Cheyney went 1-2. The Lady Wolves defeated Virginia Union 4-1 and fell to St. Paul’s 4-3 and Winston Salem 4-1.
Cheyney now stands at 8-11 and all ready set a record for wins in a season.
“The team is beginning to get. We rolled a new high team game (793 vs St. Augs),” stated Coach Blakeney. “I was happy to have a winning weekend but there is still a lot of room to improve which should make for an exciting second half of the year.”
