Bowlers Shock # 10 Adelphi

Cheyney upset 10th ranked Adelphi this weekend at the Kutztown Bowling Invitational. Cheyney defeated the Panthers 802-790. The 802 series was a season high for the Lady Wolves. Cheyney was led by Philadelphia native Janae Silver (Central HS). The freshman rolled a career high 236.

Cheyney went 4-11 at the country’s biggest tournament, while also picking up three victories over Coppin State.

“The ladies impressed a lot of people with the victory over Adelphi,” commented Coach Michael Blakeney. “They really found themselves and it showed for the rest of the tournament as they were competitive in following matches. I was very happy with the team’s performance over the weekend.”

In the traditional matches on Saturday, the Lady Wolves fell to NC Central (854-754), PSU Altoona (868-716), Florida A&M (903-669), St. Francis (NY) (913-772). In Sunday’s best of four baker matches the Wolves earning a pair of victories over Coppin State (4-2) and fell to Medaille (4-2).

In baker matches Cheyney downed Coppin (652-600) and fell to PSU Altoona (713-525), Stephen F. Austin (941-546), Wisconsin Whitewater (784-615), Howard (666-604), Bethune Cookman (707-573).

Cheyney is 14-28 on the season.

The squad will take next week off to prepare for the Pennsylvania State Championship that Cheyney will be hosting at Devon Lanes on February 12-13.
