Bowling Grabs First Victory

The Lady Wolves of Cheyney recorded their first victory of the season this past weekend at the FDU Jamboree, defeating Salem International University on Saturday 670-605. The Wolves were propelled by Alean Rhodes who rolled a 187, Ciera Brown with a 143, and Ceyhara Shelton, who added a 129. On Sunday, Cheyney narrowly missed their second victory of the tournament, taking NJCU to 7 games before losing a thrilling position round baker match 4-3.

This three-day tournament featured five quad baker matches on Day 1, six team games on Day 2, and two more position round baker matches on Day 3. On Day 1, Cheyney fell in quad baker matches to Prairie View A&M University (383-726), Sacred Heart University (463-801), Arkansas State University (478-781), and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (430-758).
On Saturday, Day 2, Cheyney fell in traditional matches to Delaware State University (572-878), and host Fairleigh Dickinson University (554-870), before defeating Salem International University. After a break to re-oil the lanes, Cheyney lost their remaining matches to Sam Houston State University (549-978), LIU-Brooklyn University (531-950) and Monmouth University (578-815).
On Sunday, Day 3, Cheyney lost an exciting position round 7 game match to New Jersey City University 4-3. Cheyney was again led by Junior Alean Rhodes, who totaled 1009 for 6 games, a 168.2 average, and Junior Taylor Billington, who totaled 852 for her 6 games, a 142.0 average. This event was won by Stephen F. Austin University.
