Cheyney University Head Women's Basketball Coach Marilyn Stephens and Former Cheyney University/Former Temple University Men's Basketball Coach John Chaney were inducted as Inaugural Atlantic 10 Conference Legends on Saturday March 16, 2013 during the Men's and Women's Atlantic 10 Conference Basketball Championship games at the Barclay Arena in Brooklyn New York.  Other notable inductees were Arnold "Red" Auerbach, Mike Bantom, Cedrick "Cornbread" Maxwell and Tom Gola.

Atlantic 10 Commissioner, Bernadette V. McGlade stated, "The distinguished group of 16 men and 16 women selected by their alumni institutions is made up of former players, head coaches, All-Americans, Academic All-Americans and members of the Naismith National Basketball Hall of Fame. Whether it was building a program that eventually became a founding Conference member or furthering the conference as it grew into a basketball power, these legends have been instrumental in establishing the outstanding history of the A-10 basketball programs.  Individually each legend has become a role model for others as they competed on a national stage.  They are a credit to their institutions and are deserving of this honor on behalf of the Atlantic 10 Conference. Each Legend we honor is a part of the fabric of A-10 history."
