The Office of Institutional Advancement hosted representatives of regional charitable orgnizations at the the annual luncheon which kicked off the State Employee Combined Appeal (SECA). This is the commonwealth's annual combined charitable giving campaign for employees. Employees have the opportunity to donate to any of hundreds of participating non-profit charities. The valuable services these charities provide range from conserving our natural resources to providing assistance to the elderly, finding a cure for cancer, or providing shelter for a needy family — in Pennsylvania, across the nation or around the world.
The annual campaign, which runs from September through early November, gives employees the opportunity to donate by signing up for a payroll deduction, or contributing via check or money order.
Managment Directive 530.23 established SECA as the only charitable campaign allowed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in its statewide offices. The 2012 campaign raised over $2.8 million, roughly 94 percent of its goal.
The eight umbrella organizations that participate in SECA include
Christian Service Charities
Community Health Charities of the Northeast
Independent Charities of America
United Negro College Fund
United Ways of Pennsylvania
