Cheyney University of Pennsylvania alum and Council of Trustee Member Robert Traynham has accepted a new post as Assistant Dean for Student and Faculty Success at Georgetown University’s Graduate School of Continuing Studies.  The veteran of public service who has advised senators and served presidential campaigns is thrilled.

“I’m ecstatic,” he said.  “I’m over the moon.”

The former adjunct professor of strategy and message development at George Washington University wasn’t looking for the job.  The Search Committee saw him on television, followed him for a couple of months and brought him in for an interview.  Before he knew it, the job was his.

“It really is exciting,” Traynham admits.  “I’m going to be managing a very large, complex division with a $75 million budget, 150 faculty and staff, and 1500 students.”  He hopes to go back into the classroom and teach in the future.

With the new job, Traynham is busier than ever.  In addition to his duties at Georgetown, the seasoned journalist will continue to write a weekly column for the Philadelphia Tribune, co-host “The Flaks,” a weekly radio show on XM/Sirius Satellite Radio, host Comcast Newsmakers on CNN Headline News, and appear on MSNBC as a Political Contributor.

“I’m incredibly grateful to be blessed with so many exciting opportunities,” Traynham said.

“Robert brings an impressive blend of strategy, message development, political smarts and executive management to Georgetown University," said Dr. Christopher J. Metzler, Senior Associate Dean at Georgetown’s Division of Graduate Management Degrees. “We are very excited to welcome Robert to the team. Based upon his track record, we have no doubt that he will exceed our expectations in his new role.”

Traynham, who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Cheyney University and a Master of Arts Degree in Political Communication/Mass Media from George Mason University, will continue to serve on Cheyney University’s Council of Trustees.  He vows to continue to help his alma mater in any way that he can.
