October 3, 2012

Cheyney University National Alumni Association (CUNAA) President Junious “Rick” Stanton took to the airwaves Sunday morning, September 23rd, to sing the praises of his alma mater on Power 99 FM. Award-winning host, Loraine Ballard Morrill asked the former probation officer a wide range of questions, giving him the perfect platform to highlight CU’s history and legacy, impressive programs, educational benefits, and promote the upcoming 175th Anniversary Gala at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Stanton told listeners that Cheyney alumni committed to raising $1 million in three years and that the Gala proceeds, which will go to scholarships for Cheyney students, should help them reach that goal.
In the more than 12 minute-long interview, the CUNAA president shared his personal Cheyney experience, including a glimpse at how he met his future wife on campus. He also acknowledged a number of alumni who’ve gone on to big achievements and shed light on some of Cheyney’s hidden secrets, including the new science center currently under construction and Dr. Stephen Hughes’ accomplishments with the acquaponics program at CU.
