Carter Selected for NCAA Championship

Junior sprinter Simone Carter has been selected to represent Cheyney University at the NCAA D II Indoor Track and Field Championship March 9-10 in Mankato, MN.

Carter is seeded fifth in part to a season best 7.54 in the 60 meter sprint at the Princeton Invitational two weeks ago. Besides winning the event at Princeton, Carter’s mark set a new school record. This past week, the graduate of West Philadelphia HS set a PSAC Championship record sprinting the 60 meters in 7.62.

The preliminaries in the women’s 60 meters are scheduled for 5:20 p.m. on March 8. The finals commence at 4:45 on Saturday, March 9.  The championships will be contested at Myers Field House on the campus of the University of Minnesota Mankato.
