BRYN MAWR  During the summer of 2009, current first-year student and Human Services major Latasha Oliver brainstormed ideas for the first ever Harcum Bears Cheerleading Program. Advisor Janelle Williams, Director of Campus Activities, was recruited to assist and guide a group of students anxious to get the program off the ground. Prior to the Fall semester, Williams helped the students secure funding for uniforms, recruit two coaches, and begin the process of making cheerleading a sustainable program for the future at Harcum.

Coach Chaka Moore’s primary role is to teach dance, as she holds over 20 years of professional dance experience, and Coach Erneisha Moore will lead in cheer. Erneisha has over 17 years of cheerleading & coaching experience, and serves as the current competition coach for the Mt. Airy Bantams cheerleading program.

The Harcum Bears Cheerleading squad will not only raise morale during athletic events, they’ll engage in spirit-based initiatives on campus, like “Spirit Mondays” and “Professional Wednesdays.” On Mondays, the squad will dress in their cheerleading uniforms to promote Harcum Athletics, and as the squad prepares for the working world, they will dress business casual on Wednesdays. The squad will also be required to perform 30 hours of community service each semester.
