Cheyney University Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Ivan Banks hosted Liberian Deputy Minister of Education Mator Kpangbai on June 10 as part of the Education Roundtable tour of area universities.

"The intent of the  Roundtable was to explore areas of collaboration in an effort to help restore the Liberian education system after years of civil war," said Vice President Ivan Banks.

Accompanying Minister Kpangbai were Dr. Elizabeth Davis-Russell, President of the William V.S. Tubman University, Reverend Rita Townsend, Vice President for Institutional Advancement of William V.S. Tubman University, and Stanley L. Straughter, Chairman of the Mayor's Commission on African and Caribbean Immigrant Affairs.

The Delegation met with Vice President Banks, Executive Associate to the Provost Barbara Simmons, and Vice President of Institutional Advancement Larry Green and toured the Cheyney University Aquaculture Research and Educational Laboratory. Cheyney University officials later co-hosted an education forum with the University of Pennsylvania where members of the Liberian delegation met with officials from Lincoln University, Drexel University and The Thurgood Marshall College Fund.
