December 13, 2010
12/06/2010 07:35 – While on patrol, Cheyney Police observed an abandoned vehicle behind the Carver Science Building. The vehicle had damage to the rear passenger side, front hood open and a cracked windshield. No valid registration. Said vehicle was towed from the property.
12/06/2010 18:21 - Cheyney Police were dispatched to the 5th floor of King Hall for possible Act 64 violations. Upon arrival, police detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from a room. The male occupant of the room opened the door to the room and the smell of marijuana came rushing out the door. The male occupant quickly slammed the door when he saw police. Cheyney Police knocked on the door and several minutes later, the door was opened by a female occupant who had a strong odor of marijuana and red eyes. Visibly found in the room were two blunt type marijuana cigars, one soaked in liquid. All were processed and/or referred for Judicials.
12/06/2010 21:08 - Cheyney Police responded to a room on the 2nd Floor of King Hall for a report of persons smoking marijuana in a room. Upon arrival, there was a strong odor of suspected marijuana detected. The room was occupied by four persons. The occupant of the room opened the door for police and the odor of marijuana became stronger. Visibly found in the room was residue from consumed marijuana cigarettes. All students acknowledged they had been smoking marijuana in the room. All were processed and/or referred for Judicials.
12/07/2010 08:55 - Cheyney Police received a report of an accident with the Shipping and Receiving vehicle. Complainant was exiting the Wade Wilson parking lot area and felt the vehicle scraping against the wall as she drove out of the parking area. Complainant also stated she did not know if she hit any other vehicles in the area. The owner of a Mercedes called police headquarters a short while later and reported damage to his vehicle while parked in the Wade Wilson parking lot. The two accidents are under investigation.
12/07/2010 18:15 – Cheyney Police responded to a report of a disturbance in the Ada George Dining Facility. Upon police arrival, the disturbance was quelled and students were observed eating in the facility. Complainant stated that the staff was being harassed by several male students. Witnesses indicated the disturbance was escalated by the Metz dining staff. Staff admitted to allowing a student to go behind the food counter and make a sandwich after he complained about the slow service. The student responsible, surrendered and apologized for his actions, but indicated he was hungry and the staff appeared as though they didn’t care. The complainant acknowledged this was the incident and stated her staff should have maintained policy and procedure. No charges were filed at this time.
12/07/2010 17:40 – Cheyney police responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred three days earlier. An arrest was made. This incident is currently under investigation.
12/07/2010 21:24 - Cheyney Police were dispatched to Truth Hall for a report of theft. Student reported his XBOX was stolen from his room. Complainant indicated his roommate left the door unlocked. This matter is currently under investigation.
12/07/2010 17:55 - Cheyney Police responded to Truth Hall for a report of an assault that occurred. Female student reported that during the campus power outage, she was punched in the face and shoved against a wall by a male student because he did not like her comments. This matter is currently under investigation.
12/08/2010 16:34 – Cheyney Police responded to Yarnall Hall for a report of theft. Student reported he was away and returned to his room to find his flat screen TV and digital camera was stolen. The door was unlocked. Then, the roommate indicated he was away for three weeks and returned to find his laptop stolen but he did not report it. This matter is currently under investigation.
12/08/2010 21:45 – Cheyney Police responded to Tubman Hall for a scheduled fire drill. All floors were cleared and students were cleared to re-enter the dormitory.
10/08/2010 22:45 - Cheyney Police responded to King Hall for a report of a fire alarm. Upon police arrival, it was discovered that the 4th floor pull station was activated. King Hall was found to be free of smoke and fire. Alarm was reset and the building was cleared for re-entry.
12/09/2010 09:22 - Cheyney Police responded to the rear of Marcus Foster Bookstore for a report of vandalism to a vehicle. This matter is currently under investigation.
12/09/2010 23:20 - Cheyney Police responded to King Hall for a possible fight on the 6th Floor. Upon arrival, police did not find a fight on the 6th Floor. Police then started a building check and discovered a large group on the 2nd floor. Police also noticed a strong odor of alcohol while dispersing the group. Within the group, a non-resident student was advised several times to leave campus. The male non-resident student left the 2nd floor but was found loitering in the lobby. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and referred to Judicial.
12/09/2010 19:55 - Cheyney Police while on patrol, observed two males and one female in the restricted construction area. Identities were verified, all were given warnings.
12/10/2010 23:30 - Cheyney Police, while handling other incidents at Truth Hall, were contacted by a female student who indicated she was assaulted. Complainant stated a female knocked on her door looking for her roommate. The complainant indicated the female was intoxicated, became irate and began pulling the complainants hair and punched her. Police checked the area with negative results. The suspects name was given to police. This incident is under further investigation.
12/10/2010 00:12 - Cheyney Police responded to the 6th Floor of Truth Hall for an unconscious person. Upon arrival, a male was found laying on the floor in front of a room. A physical altercation occurred and visible injuries were present. Medics were called to transport the student to the hospital. An arrest was made. This incident is currently under investigation.
12/10/2010 00:30 - Cheyney Police responded to Tubman Hall for a complaint of harassment. Complainant stated a student posted pictures up on Campus and FaceBook with comments. This incident is currently under investigation.
12/09/2010 23:29 - While handling numerous calls for service in Truth Hall, Cheyney Police were dispatched to the 2nd floor of Truth Hall for a possible illegal party. Upon police arrival, numerous bottles of alcohol were visible. Dorm director was on location – students will receive Judicials.
12/11/2010 16:00 – Cheyney Police were dispatched to Tubman Hall for a report of a unauthorized student in the dorm. Student was placed under arrest for defiant trespass.
12/11/2010 20:45 - Cheyney Police responded to the 2nd Floor of Truth Hall for a fire alarm activation in the trash room. Residents were evacuated from the building. A smell of burnt popcorn was evident. Nothing was burning and the source was located in a room where the residents confirmed they burnt popcorn. These residents did not evacuate and will be issued judicial for not following procedure.
12/12/2010 08:51 - Cheyney Police were dispatched to Truth Hall for a report of an unconscious person. Upon police arrival, they observed a male subject who appeared to be sleeping in front of the elevator on the 4th floor. An investigatory search of the subject produced an empty small glassine bag used for packaging marijuana. The subject was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for processing. It was learned the subject was a former student who is no longer enrolled and was inside Truth Hall celebrating with a friend who was accepted into Moo Psi Moo. The subject was cited for Criminal Trespass and Disorderly Conduct and escorted off campus.
12/12/2010 19:49 – Cheyney Police were dispatched for a disturbance in the area of the bus stop at University Circle and Alumni Lane. Upon arrival, police observed the female actor and detected a very strong odor of alcohol on her person. Her speech was slurred and she was very confrontational. She was transported to the police station where she admitted consuming alcoholic beverages. She was cited for violations of Pennsylvania Crimes Code 5505.
12/13/2010 00:05 - Cheyney Police were dispatched to Tubman Hall to investigate a disturbance viewed on the surveillance cameras. Upon arrival, police observed several females in the first floor lobby involved in a heated argument. Police discovered that someone had dumped a trashcan full of bleach water in a room on the 7th floor. The occupant of that room was accusing another group of females of having something to do with it. Police separated the parties and gathered information. The Dorm Director was advised and indicated he would conduct an investigation of the incident.
12/12/2010 18:41 - Cheyney Police were dispatched to King Hall 6th floor for a report of a theft that occurred over the weekend. Upon arrival, police were met in the lobby by the complainant and her roommate whom she was accusing of taking a purse from the closet. During this incident, police were called away to investigate a possible assault in progress with a weapon. This incident is under investigation.
