Cheyney Snaps Eight Game Skid

The Wolves snapped an eight game skid with a 92-84 victory home victory over visiting Mansfield.
A quartet of players tallied double figures for Cheyney as the Wolves were led by Jason Sabb and Brandon Baylor. The pair scored 28 and 26 points respectively. Jerrod Johnson and Anthony Juene added 18 and 17 points apiece for Cheyney.
Cheyney won the game from the charity stripe converting 33 of 39 compared to 10-14 for the Mounties. The trio of Baylor, Sabb and Juene were a combined 29 for 33 from the foul line. Mansfield shot an impressive 58% (34-59)from the field but could not overcome the deficiencies from the foul line.
Cheyney jumped out to a 22-12 advantage but the Mounties would not go away easily. Mansfield battled back to take a 33-32 lead with 3:35 to go in the first half. However the lead was short lived as Cheyney took a 42-40 lead into the locker room.
Baylor gave the Wolves a spark at the beginning of the second half as he converted back to back three points to push the Wolves lead up to eight points. Five and half minutes into the second half a Johnson jumper gave the Wolves a 13 point advantage. Mansfield was able to cut the lead to seven on two occasions in the final two and half minutes but Cheyney converted 12 of 14 foul shots over that time to preserve the victory.
The Wolves will host cross town rival West Chester on Wednesday night. Tip-off is slated for 8:00 pm.
