April 4, 2014

Cheyney University assistant women's basketball coach Brittany Christian received a scholarship to  attend the 2014 A STEP UP, a symposium for the professional development of assistant coaches presented by Felicia Hall Allen & Associates set to take place May 2 - 4, 2014 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

"I'm very thankful to be chosen as one of the Uplift Scholarship recipients. The opportunity to attend A STEP UP is exciting. I am looking forward to gaining insight from the wealth of coaches that will be in attendance as well as networking  and building lasting relationships with them. I plan to make the most of the experience and to bring what I learn back to the Lady Wolves program here at Cheyney as we continue to build ourselves into a PSAC powerhouse."

Christian recently completed her first season as lead Assistant Coach for the Lady Wolves.

Lady Wolves Head Coach Kyle Adams is a 2012 Uplift Scholarship Recipient and A Step Up participant.
He noted, "We are really excited for Brittany as she takes this next step in her professional growth and development. Felicia and her team do a magnificent job of bringing together the best and the brightest in our craft to share their knowledge and insight to help assistant coaches who are looking to elevate their careers. For me, A Step Up was not just career changing, it was life changing."

The symposium will cover 10 topics including Recruiting, Elevating Your Coaching Profile and Rebuilding A Program. Several coaches from the Division I & II levels will be on hand.

The scholarship will cover the cost of registration and handbook. Ten Scholarships have been awarded to ethnic minority coaches who are chosen from a pool of candidates that meet the eligibility criteria.
