Cheyney University gears up for some Family Fun at Community Day
Along with the First Annual Thornbury 5k/10k Race

CHEYNEY, PA (March 1, 2010) — Cheyney University will be hosting another Community Day on Saturday, March 27, in conjunction with the First Annual Thornbury 5K/10K race. The race registration begins at 7:30 a.m., with the first race beginning at 9 a.m. Family-fun attractions are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Community Day is a great opportunity to showcase the talents of campus community members as well as build relationships in support of the university. Attractions include face painting and Caricatures, petting zoo, student art exhibit, theatrical performances, live jazz, health and public service departments’ information and more. There will also be children’s races on the University’s track and field.
Cheyney University’s Community Day is free and opened to the public. Most of the festivities will be in and around Cope Hall Gymnasium.

Race proceeds will benefit the Delaware Valley Lion's Club. Lions Club International is the largest service club organization in the world with over 1.3 million members worldwide. The Delaware Valley Chapter is just one of over 45,000. The Delaware Valley Chapter also helps Thornbury Township by handling concessions at some Thornbury Park events such as Memorial Day and Independence Day.
