Common People performed at Cheyney's Got Talent

Cheyney’s Got Talent was held on April 22, 2013 at 8 pm in the Marian Anderson Music Center. Fourteen performers offered selections including poetry, spoken word, rapping, singing and piano.   

More than 120 students enjoyed a night full of music and the wealth of artistic talent that Cheyney students have to offer.  Through music and dance the creativity of the students came alive.  The event promoted emotional well-being and was a huge stress reliever with upcoming finals being imminent. “Art has the Power to Heal & the Power to Unite”
 
 Four winners were picked: 
1st place – Elizabeth Payne, opera singer
2nd place – Common People, Nasir-Din Edwards, spoken word
3rd place – Erika Irving, spoken word
4th place – Christian Beard, pianist
 
The talent show judges were Mr. Thomas Nixon, Director of Judicial Affairs; Tiffany Alexander, Coordinator of Student Engagement; Stephanie Bennett-Bey, Cheyney Alumna; and Mr. Monroe Griffin, College Success Advisor.
Others  helping with the logistics were Elisha Morris, Coordinator of Internships and Daneisha Allen, College Success Advisor.
