The newly elected 2013-2014 senior, junior, sophomore, and freshman class officers are working to make this academic year at Cheyney University successful and memorable for everyone. Voting was an all-day process but once the votes were tallied electronically by the Campus Computer Center, leaders emerged for each class.

Senior class President Tempest Kerr, a criminal justice major from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, also serves as Vice President of the National Council of Negro Women, is a member of the Judicial Board, and director of the Cheyney Gospel Choir. “I plan to make all seniors aware of what is going on this year on campus,” Tempest explains. Her plans after graduation are to further her education in graduate school.

Vice President Tyrik Thorn, also from Philadelphia, is majoring in early childhood education. Thorn is very active on campus as a member of the Collegiate 100, Judicial Board, and Call Me Mister Program.  Tyrik also serves as a Student Representative and Resident Advisor. “My plan,” he says, “is to supervise seniors with a memorable school year and make sure that they are ready for life after Cheyney.”

Quanisha Grimes, Recording Secretary, is another Philadelphian, majoring in Psychology. Her plans while in office are to make sure every senior is up to date with every event and opportunity occurring on campus. Her future goal is to go to graduate school and receive a master’s degree in counseling psychology, followed by a Ph.D. in clinical child psychology.

Correspondent Secretary and theatre arts major Angelique Haynesworth, also a Philadelphian, wants to keep the communication lines open between the senior class and their advisor, Student Activities Director Sharon Thorn. After graduation, Angelique plans to continue stage management at Dance Danse4nia Repertory Ensemble in Philadelphia.

Treasurer Rashidah Jones, from Allentown Pennsylvania, is a business management major. Her mission is to keep track of all senior class funds and to get every expense paid on time. After graduation, she plans to move to Tampa Bay, Florida and take an offer from a restaurant owner to manage the business.
