Coronation Kicks Off Homecoming Weekend Activities

The 2012 Homecoming Celebration will commemorate Cheyney University's 175 Years in fine style.  The first of many events celebrates a revered HBCU tradition - the coronation of Miss Cheyney on Wednesday, October 17.  The event is even more special this year as Mr. Cheyney joins the Queen in the pageantry on stage at the Marian Anderson Theatre. 

Festivities continue on Thursday, October 18 at 6 PM with the 175th Gala at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, 1101 Arch Street Philadelphia PA 19107. More than 1000 guests are anticipated at the Black Tie optional program that includes awards, dinner, entertainment, dancing and more.  Musical entertainment includes host Kenny Gamble, Harold Melvin's Blue Notes, Billy Paul, Amazin' Grace, and Bill Jolly & TSOP Band. On Friday, October 19, the Bookstore CU's Foster Alumni/Student Center will be open until 6 pm.  The CUNNA Life Members Reception/Luncheon  hosted by President Howard-Vital- (Invitation only) is set for noon. From 3 to 5 pm the Leadership Forum will be presented by Past Presidents Council, at the Marcus Foster Alumni/Student Center. The Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet will be held in the Ada S. Georges Dining Hall at 6 pm. *A  Casino Night / Meet and Greet Party from 8 PM—1 AM is planned at the Crowne Plaza Wilmington, 630 Naamans Road, Claymont, DE  *Food Provided- Cash Bar       
 

The General Alumni Meeting with a continental breakfast and gift is set for Saturday morning. Registration begins at 8:30 and the meeting begins at 9 am.  

Homecoming events on Saturday include a 10:45 parade featuring Mr. and Miss Cheyney, Homecoming King and Queen, student leaders, floats and decorated cars, the Cheyney University Soulful Marching Band and guest bands and marching troops from Maryland and Philadelphia.

The football game features Cheyney University vs. Bloomsburg at 1 pm. Homecoming game halftime events include presentations of the Homecoming Court and the 2012 Hall of Fame Inductees. The festivities continue with tailgating on the Hill beginning at 4 pm. 

A live taping of talk show Pick 6!, hosted by author and 2008 CU alumnus Cedric Perry and sidekick Chris "Bandman" Carter (2010) at 5 pm in Dudley Hall. Tickets cost $5 with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Cheyney University Alumni Scholarship Fund. Pre-order your tickets online to receive a free Pick 6 DVD.

Later that evening Alumni and friends will enjoy an Old School Party from 6:30 pm till midnight at Marcus Foster Alumni/Student Center Auditorium.   The Young Alumni 175 Party at Ada S. Georges International Dining Hall features DJs "Doc B" and NYC's "TNT" from 9 pm to 2:30 pm. 

On Sunday morning, President Howard-Vital will welcome Cheyney University alumni to the annual President's Legacy Brunch at 10 am in the Ada S. Georges Dining Hall. Dr. Juan R. Baughn '66, Consultant, Facilitator for the National Institute for School Leadership begins at 10 am.

All-Access Passes & Parking 
For a $65 or $85 fee you can purchase either a Gold or Platinum All-Access Pass.

The Gold All-Access Pass includes admission to Casino Night/Meet & Greet, General Meeting/Continental Breakfast, and the Old School/Dance Party OR the Young Alumni Lounge 175 Party.

The Platinum All-Access Pass will offer all the benefits of the Gold, but will include access to BOTH the Old School/Dance Party AND the Young Alumni Lounge 175 Party.
Advance payment is required. The payment deadline is Friday, September 28, 2012. All-Access Passes will be mailed one week prior to homecoming weekend.

No All-Access passes will be available on-site. Passes will be available for pick up at Casino night. There will be a $5 parking fee for special events. Please bring exact change.
