January 5, 2014

Cheyney University's Deshawn Curtis led all scorers with 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to record his fifth double double of the basketball season. However, Cheyney (2-11) came out on the short end of a 69-65 decision to Edinboro (6-6). Jerrod Johnson and Calvin Brown chipped in 13 and 12 points respectively for the Wolves.

With the Wolves leading 7-6, the Fighting Scots went on a 15-0 run to take a 21-7 lead midway through the first half. Cheyney immediately answered with a 20-3 run to take a 27-24 lead with just under two minutes to play in the half. Edinboro scored the final eight points of the half to break a 34-27 lead into the locker room at the brake.

A Curtis lay-up at the 12 minute mark brought the deficit down to three, 45-42. Over the next five minutes the Fighting Scots would outscore the Wolves 16-3 to take a 16 point lead (61-45), their largest of the afternoon. Cheyney would not make it easy for the Fighting Scots. Johnson capped a 14-0 with a lay-up for the Wolves that cut the lead to 61-59 with 2:35 to play. Edinboro was a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe in the final minutes to preserve the victory.
