Day One of the PA State Bowling Championship

The Wolves went 2-2 on the opening day of the 2011 Pennsylvania State Bowling Championships and finished day one in fourth place with 3547 pins. In the first match of the day, the Lady Wolves found themselves down 50 pins in the seventh frame. However, the Lady Wolves rallied and pulled the upset defeating Penn State Altoona 711-661. The Wolves then dropped matches to Kutztown and St. Francis (PA) before defeating fellow HBCU rival Lincoln 731-556.

Danielle Mines was Cheyney’s top bowler of the day averaging a 173. Strong performances were also turned in by Janae Silver, Destinee Bennett, Manoucheca Julce and Dejaniarah McIver.

At the end of day one, Kutztown is in first, followed by St. Francis, PSU Altoona, Cheyney and Lincoln.

The first ever Pennsylvania State Bowling Championship concludes tomorrow with the baker matches.
