Hicks and Wasserleben Named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team

Adrese Hicks and Blaze Wasserleben were named to the 2012 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team by the 28 sports information offices from the metropolitan area. The Cheyney duo represents two of the twenty-four members selected.
Hicks led the Cheyney defense with two interceptions for 24-yards and five pass break-ups. He ranked eighth on the squad in tackles with 28 while only appearing in seven games. He is a member of the Cheyney University Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete and a D II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Honoree. Hicks is a proud owner of a 3.9 grade point average and majors in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. A graduate of Roxborough High School in Philadelphia, Adrese is a senior and expected to graduate in May.
Wasserleben made the switch from wide receiver to quarterback this season. He finished the year second on the team in rushing with 508 yards on 148 carries including three touchdowns. He threw for four touchdowns and was 56 of 124 for 625 yards. Voted team captain by members of the team, Wasserleben has also been recognized as an Honoree for Academic Achievement by the D II Athletic Directors Association, a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete and a member of the Cheyney University Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. Wasserlelben hails from Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. He owns a 3.63 grade point average and majors in Early Childhood Education.
