Hurricane Irene and Campus Opening Update

August 29, 2011

Dear Members of the University Community,

First of all, I have to thank the leadership of Vice President Gerald Coleman, Chief Larry Richards, and the emergency management team for helping bring the University through Hurricane Irene in an organized and professional manner.

The University did experience down-trees, leaks in roofs, and water did rise on many roads that lead to the University prohibiting travel to and from the University. However, the most important item to note is that the students came through the Hurricane well.

We have power and Internet services in our buildings, as far as we can determine. If you are experiencing any difficulties, please contact Mr. Carl Williams or Mr. John Carroll.

We are open today for registration and move-in that did not occur over the weekend.

Classes will resume on Wednesday.

We hope that you and your families fared well through the Hurricane, also.
