Kapree' L. Smith is a Psychology major with a concentration in criminal justice. From Darby, PA, she recently received the Schock Fellowship. This scholarship is available to outstanding students at all 14 state schools to assist with educational expenses.

The annual fellowship amount increases every year for recipients. Students have a chance of receiving a full scholarship during their senior year.

The award is based on community service activities and an essay the students write addressing the ideals of Clarence Schock and how they have implemented these ideals in their academics and community service efforts.

Ms. Smith was one of only 5 student recipients of the honor and was the only African American to receive a full scholarship.

Ms, Smith is honored to have received this award, and she looks forward to graduating in May 2011. She stated, “I will be a residential advisor in King Hall, which is a new task for me, so I look forward to taking on that responsibility!”
