King Hall Model Room Receives Make-Over

June 25, 2012

Angela Upson, the Soft Lines Manager at the nearby Granite Run Mall Sears, arrived on Friday afternoon with an instant dorm décor in a big box. She had come at the invitation of Rosalyn Henderson of the University College office to help perk up the model dorm room in King Hall.

The plain beige room quickly came to life with it’s his-and-her sides brightened with complimentary tones of red and blue. New comforters, pillows and sheets made the beds cozy and inviting, and small bedside rugs brightened the space. Coordinating towel sets carried the theme forward.

A thoughtful addition was the hanging closet organizing shelf system and divided travel hamper to help keep the room tidy. Final touches included curtains, a wall sculpture and a circular montage of antique license plates which was actually a clock. Angela estimated the whole décor would cost about $150 retail. “You can always get good buys at Sears.”

The room will be the first stop when prospective students come for a campus tour.
