Larry Skinner Named Cheyney University Trustee

Larry Skinner, a 1976 graduate of Cheyney University, was recently named as a Cheyney University Trustee.  He has been active as VP of the Cheyney C Club, the 501c3 fund raising organization which raises scholarship money for the Athletic Department, School Band and Cheerleaders. The C Club goals are to provide excellent educational opportunities for a diverse student population. As chairperson of the annual Wade Wilson Golf Tournament, he has worked with The C Club to raise almost $100,000 in scholarships and financial support over the past three years.

Larry spent six years working as a teacher in the Philadelphia School System and was a Recreation Leader for the City of Philadelphia Youth Study Center. Currently, Larry Skinner is a Senior Sales Executive at Conversion Technologies International, Inc. with more than 28 years experience in delivering sustained revenue and profit in the field of Document Management.  Larry progressed from Director of Business Development to Sales and Marketing VP and later supervised Channel partners and a national direct sales force. 


Larry Skinner is a visionary and a leader in his personal and professional lives.  Professionally, he oversees and mentors a growing Sales and Marketing Department, guiding the staff with wisdom attained from his years of experience. He is an active member of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators and The Association of Information and Image Management.  Larry was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Liberty Bell Chapter of ARMA as a Director.


Larry is a member of The Forum For A Better PA, an affiliation of politically engaged business, civic, professional and religious leaders in Pennsylvania who are committed to increasing the quality of social, civic, and economic participation by African Americans across the Commonwealth.

Most proud of his loving and supportive family, he states, “Without their love and support, I would not be who I am today.” The Cheyney University legacy weaves throughout his family, including his wife Carmen of 30 years, Cheyney 1976, and his youngest daughter, Laiya, Cheyney 2010. His oldest child Lacey attended Delaware County Community College, and he has a granddaughter, Aurora. The Skinners have resided in the Wynnefield area of Philadelphia for 25 years and are devoted members of Bright Hope Baptist Church.
