Cheyney Alum Opens New Franchise in National Harbor

Cheyney Alum and entrepreneur, Craig T. Welburn, Class of '71, cuts the ribbon to his newest franchise while flanked by family, McDonalds dignitaries and Ronald McDonald
Craig T. Welburn, Cheyney University Class of ‘71, recently celebrated the grand opening of his newest McDonalds franchise restaurant on the National Harbor near Oxon Hill, MD. As President and CEO/Owner-Operator of Welburn Management, Welburn has garnered many accolades since his company’s inception. He is an active member of the Cheyney University National Alumni Association (CUNAA) and is a true beacon to the minority business community.
Many area business owners and friends attended the big event which culminated with a ribbon cutting. Representatives from the Prince Georges County Chamber of Commerce gave an official welcome and certificate presentation to the Welburns, while the award-winning Oxon Hill High School Choir performed several of their recorded songs. The grand opening also included a DJ and an appearance from the one-and-only Ronald McDonald.
The new 24-hour McDonalds, located at the entrance of the harbor, offers a breathtaking view and is the 36th McDonalds franchise for Welburn. National Harbor rests on the shore of the Potomac River, south of Washington, D.C. The 300-acre waterfront also houses a first-class marina, convention center, National Children’s Museum, as well as other outlets and attractions.
