New residence hall on June 1
New Cheyney University Science Center - Ground has been broken for the New Science Center with completion expected in spring 2013. The estimated cost of the 39,000 square foot facility is $21.5 million. Architects Cueto-Kearney Inc. of Swarthmore, Pennsylvania designed the building which is planned to replace the existing Carver Science Center. The state-of-the-future building will include sustainable features and an application for LEED Silver certification has been submitted for approval.
New Residence Hall - Placement of the modules for the new residence hall began this April with completion anticipated in the fall. The new facility is estimated to cost $38 million. The building features a 200 well geothermal system which pulls its heat from underground. The system is non-polluting and technically renewable. The addition of another 400+ bed facility is anticipated as a second phase.
