Peter Hughes Represents CU at Ford Black College Quiz Game Show

The sixth annual Ford Black College Quiz Game Show was held at 3 PM Thursday, December 1 at Howard University in Washington DC. Peter Hughes, a senior communications major, represented Cheyney University at the televised event which featured students from 12 historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). A quiz bowl veteran, Hughes also participated in the Spring 2011 Honda Campus All Star Challenge national tournament.
The Black College Quiz Game Show is a “Jeopardy” style formatted game show where students display their knowledge and skills of African-American history. Actor Greg Alan Williams, known for roles in Necessary Roughness and BET’s The Game, hosted the show.The show highlights the importance of continuing the pursuit of higher learning for both African-American students and the HBCU schools they attend.
Students competed for thousands of dollars in scholarship funds and cash prizes for their schools. Participanting schools included Alcorn State, University Benedict College, Fisk University, Florida Memorial University, Fort Valley State University, Howard University, Kentucky State University
Southern University-Baton Rouge, Tuskegee University, Virginia State University, and Wilberforce University.
